A Day of Being a Chef

I was picked to be a guest co-host for Chef To Go (QTV-11) and boy was it an experience. They picked me from thousands of emails the show would get from their avid fans. The setup, Chef Rob Pengson, Mirriam Quiambao (celebrity guest co-host), and I would be making a scrumptious meal for my mom (and dad of course) in celebration of my mom's birthday on October 21.

Everything was set and taping went on for a few hours. I did some work in the makeshift kitchen and boy was I in for a treat. I did minor things really like squeezed a lemon, stirred the vinigrette, poured in extra virgin olive oil, etc. What was on the menu you may ask? Well, we had Ensalata de Frutti di Mari (starters), Braised Lamb Shank with Risotto and Porccinni mushrooms (main dish), and Vanilla Panna Cotta with Blueberries and Mango puree.

After all the food got prepared, I had another mission, to get my mom and dad to the "set" in Alabang (Manong's near Festival Mall). I had to come up with some story about a friend opening a restaurant and we were invited to go. Anyways, I was successful in getting my parents to go to the venue.

It went pretty smoothly. My mom got so surprised (so did I) as she knows who Chef Rob is. Apparently, she watches the show too. She was also surprised to see Mirriam Quiambao whom she absolutely adores. At this time my dad was so clueless about the whole thing. He thought Mirriam and Chef Rob were the "friends" I was talking about.

It was all too surreal. Very "Wish Ko Lang" moment... Anyways, I am very happy that my mom was so surprised with the treat. I even got "gift" from the show for my condo. So thanks to QTV-11, Chef Rob Pengson, Mirriam Quiambao, and the staff/crew that day. Thanks for helping me make my mom's birthday extra special, just coz she deserves nothing less.

Saw that episode. That was so sweet of you to surprise your mom. I loved the recipes Chef Rob prepared. :)
