Being vertically challenged has never been more fun... fashion wise. I made some amount of research (while I was working here in the office) to find some decent tips for peeps out there who are clamoring for some good advice on dressing up if you feel you're a little, err... a little low.
If you follow the items I outlined it could help in some way... and it won't hurt. :)
Just go for a simple wardrobe. This will help you avoid standing out in a crowd.
Avoid designs and patterns. These break up your outfit's vertical lines that normally make you look taller. (applicable to jackets, shirts, or a pair of pants, etc)
Vertical lines in shirts, suits, pants, and sweaters help in extending the facade of a shorter frame or body.
A uniform top and bottom will make your body look longer. (i.e. if you're wearing blue jeans, wearing a similar blue shirt will make you look taller)
Essentially, clothes need to fit perfectly. Wearing something tight or loose will emphasize your physical flaw.
Jackets and blazers should fall slightly below your buttocks and not above it.
Avoid blazers or cardigans with more than 3 buttons. Remember that these are designed for taller men and will end up making you look shorter.
Never wear your pants too high. Wear them just above your hips for maximum results.
Buy pants that are low-rise (a short distance between the crotch of your pants and the top of the waistband). Levi's has them.
Avoid any kind of puckering around the hips caused by full pockets, tight and badly designed pants especially pleated ones. They will make you look wider, hence shorter.
Your pants should break just above your shoes so your socks don't show.
V-neck t-shirts and sweaters will also make your torso look longer.
Avoid tucking baggy tops because they will make you look like an ice cube (wide and short).
So there. Thanks to websites i was able to gather the information above. I have to say that was enlightening for me to. :) This is new territory. Hope this helps someone at least.
